After all, it is a street circuit, so the track surface can’t be as smooth as dedicated full-time tracks. In F1 22 Azerbaijan is a very bumpy circuit. Then as you are racing down the long straight you can decrease your on-throttle diff ready for the first half of the lap. If you can, I would recommend increasing your on-throttle diff via the MFD as you exit the castle section around Baku. This will be beneficial as the faster corners in the third sector of the lap will benefit from a higher on-throttle diff setup. You can adjust your on-throttle diff during a race using your MFD. A low on-throttle diff setup will help you accelerate out of corners better without worrying as much about oversteering. By lowering your on-throttle differential setup you will limit how fast your rear wheels break traction. You can try to manage your throttle input throughout a race, but you can help manage your rear tyres with your differential setup. This will take its toll on your rear tyre wear throughout a full race, meaning Baku is a rear limited track. These corners require you to accelerate away from them at relatively low speeds. Differential setup is keyĪ lot of the corners around Baku in F1 22 are slow to medium speed 90 degree turns. Low downforce to prioritise the straight with an emphasis on an average rear wing to give the best rear stability through the windy sections. This is a very similar approach to our F1 22 Italy setup. Then set your rear downforce between low and medium. Set your front wing aero relatively low as this is the part of your aerodynamics that affect drag the most. Opt for a low downforce setup to prioritise this long straight. It’s even longer than the huge straights at Monza and Jeddah! This means that you have to factor it into your aerodynamic setup. The long pit straight beats every other straight on the F1 calendar for length. However, the rest of the lap gets very technical and requires a well-balanced car setup to optimise. The 2.2km long pit straight means that you have to lean towards a low downforce car setup to ensure you aren’t too slow on this straight. While you’d think this would be ideal for a high downforce car setup, Baku also features the longest straight on the calendar. It features one of the tightest and most technical sectors of any track on the Formula 1 calendar. In F1 22 Baku is a track which is notoriously difficult to both drive and create a car setup for.
